Ken Morrison
Welcome to the first building of a new city. In 2024 we got a new name, a sharper mission, and a new CEO.
We shifted from a planning phase to a strong delivery phase.
Key milestones for this year have included the government approving our Master Plan for Bradfield, the construction of our First Building which is now complete, and our Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility which has already done its first project and is looking forward to a full opening in 2025, as part of this great building.
Our Superlot, the first major part of Bradfield to be put to the private sector is progressing well, with tenders about to close.
And next year there's even more in store stay tuned as we bring Australia's first new city in 100 years, to life.
First Building construction complete
We are pleased to announce the completion of the First Building at Bradfield City Centre, which houses Stage 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF).
Situated in Western Sydney, a key hub for manufacturing, the AMRF is designed to provide world-class support to businesses, enabling them to scale rapidly, mitigate risks, and enhance their global competitiveness.
The AMRF is a cornerstone of Bradfield City Centre's economic development strategy. By bolstering the manufacturing sector, it aims to create numerous high-value jobs and leverage the $20 billion in government infrastructure invested in the Aerotropolis.
Bradfield City First Building fly through
Construction of the First Building - housing Stage 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) - is now complete.
Sustainability is a core principle of the First Building's design.
It incorporates extensive natural materials and features a cooling green roof to mitigate solar thermal heating.
The building has been designed with Country, inspired by the natural waterways and the Cumberland Plains, reflecting a deep connection with the local environment.
One of the building's highlights is the rooftop viewing platform, offering a unique perspective on the ongoing construction of the new city and the nearby Bradfield Metro station.
We are now in the process of commissioning the building and installing advanced manufacturing equipment, with the facility set to open in early 2025.
Thank you to our project partners Hassell Studio, Djinjama, Taylor Australia and NSW Public Works.
A community open day is in planning so we can show you firsthand how First Building will benefit the wider community.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build a vibrant, sustainable, and innovative community!
Superlot 1 progresses into 2025
A development partner for the first Superlot land release at Bradfield City Centre will be appointed in early 2025.
Set across 4.8 hectares, Superlot 1 includes over 200,000m² of gross floor area development potential, with provision for new homes, as well as commercial childcare, hotel, retail, medical spaces and public domain.
This partnership will set the benchmark for development in Australia’s newest city.
Digital Infrastructure for Bradfield City
A robust EOI for Bradfield City Centre’s Digital Infrastructure will see the imminent announcement in 2025 of our private sector partner to deliver the vital digital infrastructure to service mixed-use development, provide high quality digital services, and create a world-class public domain.

Civils making inroads
It was full steam ahead at Bradfield in September with enabling works for roads, services and other amenities supporting future development in the city getting underway.
Sixty Olympic swimming pools' worth of material (over 150 thousand cubic metres) will be cut and filled to deliver Bradfield City Centre's enabling works for roads, services and other amenities.
Enabling works are due for completion in 2025.
Investment opportunities in Bradfield City
The creation of Bradfield City has moved from a planning phase to a strong delivery phase. As a result, now is the perfect time to consider the benefits for your business in locating in Australia’s first new city in 100 years.
The BDA’s Board has now approved a sequencing plan to guide the release of Bradfield precincts over the next three years. Staged development will see an initial focus on growing an innovation, research and education ecosystem, supported by the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF), as well as a busy enterprise precinct.
With the first Superlot land release also progressing to offer commercial, housing and retail amenity, Bradfield is well on its way to becoming a thriving new city that will grow alongside the Western Sydney International Airport and Aerotropolis.

Look, this is just a little teaser—a taster, I guess—of what's to come.
[Ken Morrison]
Good morning, everybody. It is fantastic to see so many people here.
[Raquel Bloom]
I've never seen so many manufacturers in one room.
[Ken Morrison]
The AMRF will provide world-class infrastructure to support manufacturing in Western Sydney and across the state. It will help businesses innovate, scale, and stay ahead of the competition. Its heart will be at Bradfield, helping to underpin the ecosystem that will drive this new city.
[Ella Averill-Russell]
You’ve got some really strong industry partners, and I think it’s amazing. It’s very exciting as well.
[Kate Green]
It’s been fantastic to see the vision of the AMRF come to life.
[Margan Baker]
At this point, I'd like to call our panellists up to the front.
[Philip Youngman]
It’s not just about working together for a finite period of time.
[Gareth Jones]
Having that audience; when I got up and turned around, I thought, “Oh, okay, I can do this.”
How we can improve our productivity, we said around 20%. I think in reality we might actually hit more than 30.
[Owen Childs]
We're looking forward to seeing what machines and manufacturing capabilities the AMRF has.
[Troy Rath]
I can see manufacturing starting to get a bit of a push, so yeah, it's very exciting.
[Gareth Jones]
We saw what the AMRF was trying to do and it was a little bit of a marriage made in heaven.
[James Stokes]
This machine here is just one of our smaller prototyping machines.
[Ian Hudson]
There are lots of manufacturing businesses in Western Sydney, and I think a lot more can benefit from that kind of assistance.
[Ben Kitcher]
Actually, the machinery and buildings are only one part of this—the team, the people, and the skills around it are absolutely key.
Attendees were also given a first look at the AMRF's new brand, website, and social channels.
Western Sydney engineering company Marley Flow Control is the first to complete a project with the AMRF. Our team undertook a time study project to identify operational efficiencies that could boost the company’s productivity by up to six times and reduce production costs by an estimated 15% to 20%.
Building on this success, Marley Flow Control is now collaborating with the AMRF to further enhance production efficiencies.

AMRF Connect takes off
Manufacturing businesses across NSW are set to thrive, with the September announcement of Western Sydney’s newest scale up hub, AMRF Connect.
Part of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) located in the First Building at Bradfield City Centre, AMRF Connect will help accelerate the growth and competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.
Powered by Western Sydney University's Launch Pad, and Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, the hub will leverage extensive local, national, and international networks to connect manufacturers with investors, research organisations, and other businesses.
AMRF Connect will offer collaborative workspace at the First Building and a comprehensive program of targeted masterclasses, networking events, and experts in residence.
With domestic manufacturing capability firmly on the national agenda, AMRF Connect is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to boosting the NSW manufacturing industry and supporting growth of the already substantial expertise local businesses have to offer.
