About the Second Building

Purpose built to house Australia’s first commercial Semiconductor Advanced Packaging Facility, Bradfield City’s Second Building will expand the innovation ecosystem with the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) at its heart. 

The striking Second Building will be at the forefront of Australia’s growth into the semiconductor technology sector, with an advanced manufacturing hall, bespoke clean rooms, specialty labs and tenancy spaces.

Where is the Second Building?

The Second Building is located in the AMRF Precinct, directly adjacent to Bradfield City’s First Building and on the doorstep of the upcoming Metro Station and Central Park. Second Building will form a critical piece of the development of Australia’s first new city in 100 years. It will also create ongoing employment, education, and training opportunities for Western Sydney. 

Key design features

  • Cleanroom laboratories designed to ISO 5 specifications
  • Advanced manufacturing hall with a focus on semi-conductor packaging and micro-electronics.  
  • Meeting spaces and workspaces to encourage collaboration amongst the AMRF, tenants, industry and visitors.
  • Biosolar green roof for energy generation, amongst sustainability ambitions targeting 5-Star Green Star.
  • Open space connecting the Second Building to the First Building, providing inviting green space for workers and visitors to the precinct.

Architecture and design

The Second Building will showcase the architectural design excellence, innovation, sustainability and designing with Country that is being embedded into Bradfield City’s buildings and infrastructure.

A collaboration between lead architects Architectus, Aileen Sage, First Nations design consultants Bangawarra, and landscape architects Tyrell Studio, Second Building will seamlessly connect the building with its Cumberland Plain location and the surrounding public domain evolving in Bradfield City.

Key materials have been carefully selected including:

  • Local masonry
  • Transparent metal mesh
  • Metal cladding, vertical shading, glass, and timber
  • Paved courtyard space

What happens next?

The State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for Second Building was approved in April 2025. Bradfield Development Authority will appoint a construction partner and begin the delivery of the Second Building in 2026.
