About the Second Building
The Second Building expands Bradfield City’s advanced manufacturing capability into advanced semiconductor packaging and testing, with cleanrooms and specialist laboratories, enabling locally integrated electronics supply chains and sovereign capability uplift.
Australia's first commercial semiconductor advanced packaging facility
The AMRF will help to establish a national capability in this emerging technology by collaborating with leading international and local partners, acting as a focal point for collaboration, skills development, and investment.
This will support local industry and research to develop and manufacture cutting edge semiconductor devices in NSW in critical sectors such as aerospace, renewables, medtech, quantum, defence, and telecommunications.
Expected capabilities include:
- Advanced packaging technologies, starting from flip‑chip assembly techniques and progressing toward more complex integration architectures such as fan‑out wafer‑level packaging, 2.5D, and 3D packages
- Back end of line platform for novel applications
- Professional equipment, services and management
- Reliability and assurance expertise
The facility will feature:
- Over 1,100 sqm of ISO5 cleanroom space
- Advanced microscopy labs
- Electronics, taping & dicing, and specialist labs
- Advanced manufacturing hall suitable for a range of precision manufacturing applications.
Operating model
AMRF is building a team of experts to deliver advanced packaging solutions for customers.
We will also engage an experienced international partner to build the capability of this team and help operate the new facility by leveraging the skills of an experienced operator. An open market process to select an operator will commence in 2026.
AMRF Facility 2
The Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility's Manufacturing Hall 2 is designed to build upon the existing facility, accommodating emerging technologies and large-scale industry projects, and expanding the AMRF's capacity to collaborate, prototype and accelerate innovation.
The hall will deliver the necessary space and infrastructure for advanced processes, including automation and precision engineering, next-generation materials, and semiconductor applications.
These capabilities will help support our region’s role as a national hub for manufacturing excellence by enabling local businesses, researchers and global partners to develop and deliver the technologies that will define Australia’s industrial future.
Commercial tenancy spaces
The Second Building will also house around 1,300 square metres of commercial space well suited to aligned technology companies.
Tenancy opportunities will be offered to the market from mid-2026, with occupancy forecast for mid-2028.
Where is the Second Building?
Located in the AMRF Precinct, directly adjacent to Bradfield City’s First Building and on the doorstep of the upcoming Metro Station and Central Park, Second Building will form a critical piece of the development of Australia’s first new city in 100 years.
It will also create ongoing employment, education, and training opportunities for Western Sydney.
Key building design features
